Army Sergeant Embraces Islam in Brunei in 2012

Tutong - An Army sergeant from the Third Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) embraced Islam yesterday at the residence of Mohd Zulkefli bin Abdullah at RPN Kg Bukit Beruang in the Tutong District yesterday, the Ministry of Defence stated in press release.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Al-Quran by 13007 Sgt (L) Aliuddin bin Hj Sarbini.
18355 Sid Joseph bin Burub took the Islamic oath by reciting the Dua kalimah syahadah' before officers from the Dakwah Islamiah Centre, Tutong.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Aminuddin Ihsan; Deputy Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah; Commander of the RBLF, Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Yussof bin Hj Abdul Rahman; Acting Tutong District Officer Awg Shamsul Bahrin bin Hj Mohd Hussain; and the Chief Officer of the Islamic Dakwah Centre in Tutong; as well as family members and other invited guests.
This was followed by a `Takbir' and a Dikir Marhaban presentation.
The Commander of the RBAF also presented a souvenir to Joseph, who chose the name Muhammad Ismat bin Abdullah Burub as his new Muslim name.
He is currently serving with Company B of the Third Battalion, RBLF, Lumut Camp. According to statistics from the RBAF Religious Department ( JAMA'AT'), Muhammad Ismat is the ninth member from the RBAF to embrace Islam this year.
